OFHL Frequently Asked Questions

This FAQ exists a resource for those participating in the Ohioville Fantasy Hockey League. Herein lies answers to those questions that seem to pop up more often than not, and for the most part, should already be common knowledge. In an effort to keep the Commissioner from going completely insane, please consult this FAQ before asking some ridiculously stupid question about OFHL procedures, rules or regulations. Your Commissioner will thank you. Trust me.

1. Transactions

[ 1.1 ] Why hasn't the transaction I submitted not been posted on to the Transactions Page or been reflected in my roster yet?

The transaction hasn't been approved by the Commissioner yet. Since the transaction submittal is logged and listed in the pending transaction log you do not need to worry about another coach making a transaction for the same player/NHL team in the time it takes for the transaction to be approved. Most transactions will be approved within a few hours of submittal and within 24 hours at the latest. If you don't see your transaction approved and on the transaction page after 24 hours, e-mail the Commissioner.

2. Bench Player Substitutions

[ 2.1 ] Can I make a Bench Player substitution more than once per week?

No. It's as simple as that.

[ 2.2 ] Do I have to have an injured player on my current lineup in order to be eligible to make a Bench Player substitution?

No. You may make a bench player substitution for ANY reason throughout the week.

[ 2.3 ] Are NHL teams "benchable?"

Yes. Every lineup position (center, wing, defense and NHL team) is eligible to be benched as long as an insertion of the corresponding position occurs.

[ 2.4 ] When does my Bench Player substitution go into effect?

The official activation of your substitution depends on when you make the submittal. Please refer to the two scenarios below to determine when your bench player substitution will go into effect:

  1. If that day's NHL games haven't started yet: If you submit a bench player substitution before the start of that day's first NHL game, the substitution will go into effect that same day, and the activated player will start accruing roster points that day.

  2. If that day's NHL games have started: If you submit a bench player substitution after the start of that day's first NHL game, the substitution will go into effect on the following day.

[ 2.5 ] If I acquire a player/NHL team via a transaction, can I insert them into my lineup via a Bench Player substitution in the same week?

No. See the OFHL rules regarding transactions as reference material. Transaction acquisitions are not eligible for line-up use or insertion until the following week of play. Note that if a transaction occurs after the end of the last Sunday game and before the start of the first Monday game, then the acquisition can be used immediately and circumvents this rule.

[ 2.6 ] If I forget to submit my line-up for a given week, does my Bench Player substitution roll over as part of my default lineup for the following week?

Yes. As has become common practice in the OFHL, if you forget to submit a line-up for a given week, your line-up from the previous week will be "rolled over" and used again. Furthermore, since the OFHL considers bench player substitutions a line-up alteration, if you forget to submit a line-up for a given week, a bench player substitution from the previous week is rolled over as part of your line-up. The OFHL will use the line-up that was used for Sunday's games of the previous week.
